Sheldon
Downer of Penrose, died June 7, 2008, in Pueblo. He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Florence. He was one of the founders of the Kuntry Kuzzins 4-H Club. He served on the 4-H Horse Council, and was one of the pioneers of developing the Premiums Program for 4-H kids and a recipient of the 4-H family of the year award. After retirement from the county, he began his second full-time career buying and selling cattle (aka Sheldon’s clinic) and raising horses, a career he was finally able to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife, J. Marie Downer; sister, Wilma (Jerry) Adkins; children, Shanda (Tony) Telck, Kelly (Randy Sandoval) Corsentino, and Weldon (Deanna) Downer; grandchildren, David (Tami) Calhan, Cydnee, Raegan, Nathan, Scott, Victoria and Mckenna.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Downer; mother, Narcissia (Moore) Downer; and brother, Delton Downer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, at Gateway Community Church on the corner of W. Second Street and Santa Fe Ave. in Florence
My heart is broken and I will never be able to really say good bye, but you are in a much better place and I thank God for that.
